Strategy moves at a snail's pace

24-Mar-2010

The State Trail Bike Strategy is still with the Minister for Sport & Recreation, Terry Waldron.  Word from his office is that letters have been sent to all Ministers advising them of the Strategy and calling for a meeting of all Ministers to discuss the government's response.

Disappointingly there will be no allocation for funds in the May budget, but we are told this does not mean that funds cannot be found.  Meanwhile there are plenty of corridor conversations between local MPs and Ministers.  Lisa Baker, Maylands MLA recently raised the lack of priority and funding from the government in State Parliament.

So apart from being patient what can we all do?

  1. Write to your local member describing the problems, point them to the State Trail Bike Strategy currently with Minister Waldron and get them to advocate the fast track approval of the Strategy and allocation of funding to implement the recommendations.
  2. Write to the key Ministers being - Waldron, Grylls, Farragher, Castrilli - contact details here.
  3. Write to the Premier
  4. Get your mates to do the same.

Be assured that RTRA is lobbying hard to get this over the line and we will continue to do so until we get a result.
