Pinjar Trails Surface Pilot Underway

14-Oct-2008

The long-awaited trails pilot is underway! An 850m trail has been surveyed and cleared, and DEC provided a loader to position the clay at intervals along the trail so it can be more easily worked by trail building contractor Paul Neves of Three Chillies Trail Design.

The trail forms a loop and has a mixture of short straights, sweeping and tight turns (some with constructed berms) and even a small jump. It's only 1.5m wide, so it will ride more like a single track.

The trail has been divided into segments and mapped so we can as scientifically as possible evaluate different thicknesses of clay surface in different riding conditions (acceleration, braking, cornering, landing etc).

Obviously we will also be seeking rider feedback on the 'fun factor' across different ages, bike sizes and types and riding styles.

The pilot trail is expected to be complete and ready for rider evaluation by the end of October.
