Metro Road Conservation Park

15-Nov-2012

DEC has provided details of the Proposed Conservation Park in the Metro Road area off Brookton Highway.

The Conservation Park has been put in place as a buffer zone to surround private property in the area. Motorcycle riding is not permitted within the Conservation Park.

The buffer zone is an essential element in our objective of getting more of the Metro Road area set aside as a recognised riding precinct, as without it we would be unable to overcome the inevitable objections of adjacent landowners.

All riders are requested to respect this exclusion area.

Please note that Warrahdale Rd is the access road to many of these properties and riders are encouraged to avoid this road.  The preferred entry point to the area is via Metro Rd.

We are interested to hear from any riders who feel that this exclusion zone prevents access to other trails and areas outside the exclusion zone.  We will take this up with DEC to see if alternative routes can be developed.

The Metro Road area has great potential for riders.  While it is disappointing in some respects that we have to cede any of the area, in the bigger picture this Conservation Park will help us achieve our overall objectives for the area.

We're confident that ultimately it will be seen as a small price to pay.
